Ballater Walking Festival (BWF) organisers will engage guides, leaders and helpers familiar with the walks offered and all walks will have a helper, guide or leader with first aid knowledge. Each walker should ensure they are fit to undertake the walks they have elected to join and will be requested to disclose to the walk leader any known or suspected health issues when they check in for their walk. (Such disclosure may result in the walk leader refusing to include that individual).

Walks may be altered or withdrawn from the programme, should the organisers or leaders believe it is to protect the safety of the participants. Participants in such circumstances will be advised of the reason or reasons for any such alteration.

Participants acknowledge and understand that all outdoor activities, including those organised by Ballater Walking Festival, carry an element of risk. Each participant undertakes to follow the instructions given by the leader and helpers, but accepts that it is the participant who is primarily responsible for their own health and safety . Participants accept they are volunteering themselves to potential risks and must take all necessary steps to reduce such risks, eg. equipment, fitness, nutrition and hydration.  Participants must wear walking boots or walking shoes with soles which will grip on rock, grass and mud, preferably with ankle support.

Dogs are not permitted on the walks.
